Today’s form is called the Pantoum and holy hell there is more rhyming involved. I should say that it’s a good challenge for me to write within the confines of rhyming, but I actually hate it more than I hate the fact that I found a grown in long hair on my BACK last night like I’m some 43-year-old man!
Also, this poetry writing challenge was just to get me in the habit of writing, but my next challenge will be revising and actually trying to write good pieces every time.
A leaf
A green leaf stretched like a thin dough Hollowed out in color by afternoon light Begging towards the floor below To touch no earth it coils back tight
Hollowed out in color by afternoon light Fixed to the braided root To touch no earth it coils back tight Never to see the outside of this institute
Fixed to the braided root As a hair amongst a head Never to see the outside of this institute If leafs had thoughts they’d be full of dread
As hair amongst a head The leaf has others to contend with If leaves had thoughts they’d be full of dread The life of leaves is just a myth
