Today’s form is called the Rispetto and it’s an old Italian form. We have also made it to day #69 so this poem will be honoring the middle-school days of making weird jokes and drawing a Superman S on our homework.
Middle School
Braced faces and chunky flip-flops roam the halls
Boys drench themselves with seducing body spray
Girls wear silly bands shaped like Spongebob in malls
Your mom’s eyeliner coats the lids to convey
Your new maturity, your ability
To face each day and see the world vividly
You already know what it’s like to smack lips
Now you’re the big kid so they all take your tips
