December Mornings

Winter Park

Colorado, where mountains

Dance in the edge in the dark

Chilled mornings

Snow bubbled all on the porch

Deer settle against warning

Omelet done –

With green, red, and orange peppers

warm, we all eat with the sun.

Ski boots clank

Dried now by the burnt-out fire

Shuffling of coats, they yell thanks

It’s quiet

The dog perches on the couch

Crows scatter in clouds – silent
